FullStack Developer Intern

SIES Graduate School Of Technology

May 2024 – Jan 2025

As a FullStack Developer Intern at SIES Graduate School of Technology, I contributed to the development and maintenance of the live Admission Portal integrated with the ERP system. This was my longest internship and a transformative experience where I not only enhanced my technical expertise but also took on team leadership responsibilities in a live production environment.

Key Contributions

  • Frontend Development (React.js)

    • Built intuitive, responsive UIs for student admissions including online applications, document uploads, and real-time tracking portals.
    • Developed a comprehensive admin panel interface that allowed staff to manage thousands of applications with ease.
  • Backend Development (Node.js, SQL)

    • Implemented backend services for form submissions, payment workflows, and document storage, integrated seamlessly with the ERP.
    • Designed SQL schemas and optimized queries for handling large-scale admission datasets reliably in real time.
  • Product Redesign

    • Played a key role in a redesign of the product mid-cycle based on stakeholder and user feedback.
    • Enhanced workflows, reduced drop-off rates, and improved admin efficiency during high-volume usage.
  • Security & Authentication

    • Proposed and supported the adoption of a centralized authentication system for user access management, improving both scalability and security.
  • Collaboration & Agile Practices

    • Actively collaborated with ERP teams, faculty stakeholders, and technical peers to align portal features with institutional needs.
    • Followed Agile sprints, Git workflows, and conducted peer reviews to maintain code quality and timely deliveries.
  • Leadership Role

    • Took over as team lead after senior interns graduated, managing junior team members, task allocation, and code reviews.
    • Ensured smooth deployment and continuity of the admission portal throughout the admission season without downtime.

Impact and Outcomes

  • Managed the entire 2024 admissions cycle, successfully handling 2400+ candidate accounts through the system.
  • Oversaw live beta rollouts for 2nd, 3rd, 4th admissions, ensuring scalability beyond the first-year intake.
  • Digitized and streamlined the college admission process, reducing paperwork, errors, and manual workload.
  • Improved user experience and transparency for both applicants and administrators with dashboards and real-time updates.
  • Gained hands-on exposure in building, scaling, deploying, and maintaining a production-grade enterprise system.
  • Strengthened skills in system design, leadership, full-stack development, and stakeholder collaboration.
